This week we have been doing lots of research. We have been doing research on the Chromebooks and in the computer lab. We have been making boxes and bullets to organize the information and getting taking notes from the videos we've been watching and the websites. We also have been looking in the table of contents in our books to see if we find any title to go with our main idea in our box. It has been lots of fun doing research. (Ryan)
The rest of the year we have a new science kit about energy. We are learning all different kinds of energy such as electricity and kinetic energy. And, we have centers.
In one center we connected a motor with wires and a battery. In another center we used a tone generator to convert electricity from a battery into sound energy. (Damien) At school in math we have been comparing fractions, writing them and placing them on a number line, making an equivalence chain, looking at fraction models, and solving word problems that have fractions in them. Fractions are interesting because you can add them and do different things with them. Here are some of the pages in our workbook. (Layal and Raneen)
Here are some events that you should be aware of :
(Anyla) On Friday the 13th our class performed their group dramas! There were four different groups performing four different plays. The names of the plays are: The Shepherd and the Fairy, How Grandfather Spider Stole The Sun, Tiger, Brahman and Jackal, and The Lazy People. I hope you enjoy these fun filled adventures with fairies, spiders, stick figures and more. (Sarah) This coloring book, called Earth's Landforms is what we are now doing for our morning, after-planner activity. The coloring book as pictures of landforms, which we color. After that, we name the landform and write the definition. The coloring book is an amazingly creative way for Mrs. Stanesa to have us memorize our landforms. (Julia)
Our class started learning about a new element of geography - landforms. We learned about the many kinds of landforms. So far we are almost done too. We started to make this flipbook. It starts with sea level, then we added coastal plains, then interior plains, then grassy foothills, then plateaus and canyons, and then the tallest landform, mountains! We had to describe each landform and give an example of where it is located in the world. (Jackson)
I am blogging about myths. We wrote poems. I wrote a poem about the Boggy Man and Godzilla. It was my favorite part. We also made pictures of mythical creatures. We tried to match our pictures with our poems. Can you tell which poem goes with each picture? (Colston)
We are doing research clubs for the rest of the year. The clubs are Water, Air, Minerals, Soil and Trees. We study our resources and make a R.A.N. Chart. At the end, we will present facts to the class. (Kendal)
