For science we are learning about crayfish and beetles. So far we have been feeding them and giving them new water. We got to hold them and put them on our desks. We wrote about their body parts and how many of each crayfish have. Today we have to pack up the animals and send them back.

This week one of our students was a good communicator. She shared a book in Hebrew! She read it in Hebrew and then in English. She also shared her writing too.
This week in math we've been working on multiplication and division strategies. We've done targets, equal group models, equal share drawings and count-bys on fingers. Here's some divisions; 12/2=6, 16/8=2 and 6/3=2. Here are some multiplications; 6x2=12, 8x2=16, and 2x3=6. We put puzzles together with related math facts.
This week we have been reading Stone Fox and writing in a packet. We've been doing a lot of learning about the characters little Willy, Grandfather, and Stone Fox too.
This week we learned more about seeds. Two days ago we weighed seeds. And we found out seeds weighed different weights. Also we found out soaked seeds weigh double the amount of dry seeds. The three parts we found when we opened the soaked seeds were the seed coat, the embryo, and the cotyledon.
This week we have been learning what nouns are and what they mean. In one of our centers we are worked on nouns. Nouns mean a person, place, or a thing. We also made a poster of what nouns are and we took pictures from magazines and glued them down to the poster. Next week I think we are going to learn about verbs. I can't wait to see what the whole year brings with types of words.
Everyone is surely learning a lot this year in math. We've learned multiplication. We learned how to draw two different models of multiplication equations. We're getting homework to practice math.
This week in science we are working with living things. We are working with crayfish and seeds. We will take care of the crayfish as well. We are experimenting with the seeds. We are trying to grow plants with no soil. That is what we are doing in science class.
These folders are our government folders. We keep all of our government papers inside of our government folders such as: the branches of our government, how we organize people (to protect individual rights, to make and enforce laws and to keep people safe, etc.). We also learned who is in charge which is not the president, it's actually the people that are in charge! And finally, we learned some different kinds of government (It's Dictatorship, Monarchy, Communism and Democratic Republic). We definitely learned a lot!
